Pattern Master - Vancouver

Our client is the dominant force in ‘Made-to-Measure’ menswear.  They do this by applying elegant solutions to complex problems and creating beautifully designed products of unparalleled quality and value.  They are based in Vancouver, and are seeking a detail oriented Pattern Master with at least 7 years’ experience.  They will be responsible for the overall pattern making process for achieving perfect MTM fits. This role will report to the VP of Operations.
  • Responsible for ensuring pattern manipulation and adjustments are made to achieve the ideal MTM fit.
  • Adjust and tweak measurement tables to ensure all patterns are suitable for all body types
  • Conduct final review on measurements to ensure conformant to auto-grading measurement tables
  • Ensure paper patterns are adjusted based on fabric and garment construction requirements
  • Troubleshoot problems and ensure regular maintenance of computer software and equipment
  • Review, analyze, and implement solutions to improve auto-grading performance
  • Work closely with Operations, Development, and Design team to ensure effective and efficient production cycle
  • Lead, manage, and mentor team members

  • Minimum 7 years’ Men’s MTM pattern making experience for suits and shirts
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience on Gerber Accumark and Accunet systems
  • Minimum 3 years’ management experience
  • Must have strong fabric knowledge
  • Knowledgeable in garment construction focusing on Men’s MTM suits and shirts
  • Solid understanding of how fabric reacts and how fabric construction will affect fabric behavior when developing garments
  • Fully conversant with garment and MTM fits, pattern manipulations and adjustments based on customer fit requirements for all figure profile types including corpulent and muscular
  • Strong abilities on computerization and development of data driven systems and procedures
  • Ability to develop, refine and maintain MTM measurement tables
  • Proven ability to coach, lead, and mentor teams to perform and deliver
  • Effective written and spoken communication skills
  • Ability to speak Mandarin is an asset
  • Ability to travel internationally as needed – sometimes with short notice and for extended periods
